[An acrostic poem spelling the name of the deceased Binyamin Raszkies Rashkes] Here lies R’ Binyamin son of R’ Arye HaLevi Rashkes, was among the pious, the Torah was his guiding light, was generous, never sought respect, negotiated with trust all of his life, has done a lot of good deeds during his life, a respected man who was welcome by the community, obeyed the commandments and was God-fearing, set time to study the Torah, his sons and daughters will cry for his death, died at the age of 65 years on Friday, on the eve of the Holy Sabbath in the year 5662 [27 June 1902] by the abbreviated era. May his soul be bound in the bond of everlasting life. (smages@comcast.net)
