Here lies
a man upright, honest and charitable, supported and gave
from his money to the poor, shared his bread with the hungry,
his home was wide open and those who entered hungry came out
satisfied, maintained the poor and his family, our teacher
Binyamin [Benjamin] son of our teacher and rabbi Eliyahu
died 12 Iyar 5659 [ 22 April 1899]
May his soul be bound in the bond of everlasting life
