"Here lies the important young man, a maskil and perfect, the God-fearing scholar, our teacher the rabbi Eliezer Baruch son of our teacher the rabbi Josef Matrestina Matrestjna (or from Trestina). He died Friday on the eve of the Holy Sabbath 24th Tevat year 5653 as the abbreviated era. [May his soul be bound in the bond of everlasting life." Translated by Dr. Heidi M.
