Total view on the market and catholic church. Konstanty Ludwik Broel-Plater (1722-1778), Starost of Inflanty (Polish Livonia), tried to turn Krāslava (Kreslau, Kreslaw, Kreslavka...) into a cultural and religious center, constructing a fabulous church intended as the seat of the Bishop of Inflanty, a synagogue, a palace decorated with frescoes of Roman scenes, and one of the most important libraries in this part of the world (which once held 20 000 volumes).
